Coo Coo Owl

Today's card is one of the new releases from Fun N Flair .. who has just started doing digital images.
This image is called Coo Coo Owl.. I colored it with copic markers..
I used dies from Spellbinders.. This card was made for the fun and flair Texture challenge.  I used some fun paper with lots of texture on it.  And used some green for my leaves.. cause my Coo Coo Owl lives in a tree.. and the brown paper is the branch ..  The saying is one that I was given.. just printed on some paper so I do not know where it came from..
Thanks for stopping by ..
And Fun n Flair just came out with some new really, really cute images last night that I know you are going to love.

Sleepy Toes

Today I did a card using an image by Sheila Wolk, called Sleepy Toes.   I was so excited when this was released as a digital image.  you can get it at Scrapbook Stamp Society .   This card was also made with a challenge going on this week for Outlawz, it is called black white and flesh.
So I figured this image was just perfect.  I colored the card using copic markers.  The dies are from Cheery Lynn designs.  The flower is from their make a flower set one.

This is the first time I tried this.. so I think it worked pretty well
The other die is also a cheery lynn it is their butterfly corner flourish.
I am a sucker for dies of butterflies.. I need to use them more.

My Daughter said this card was a little on the dark side.. do you tink so.. I find it on the artisy side.

I colored the image with copic markers and this is also for Fun n Flairs Friday challenge.. where this week it is a color challenge.. where you need to use yellow, green, blue and orange..
I could not beleave I had designer paper with these colors in it.  The dies are from Memory Box and the flowers are a couple of different flowers I put together with a button Sticker..

Love is

The  Squigglefly challenge this week is to make a card with the sentiment on the front.  Since I like to make my image the focal point of the card, this is always a challenge for me.
The saying and the image are all part of this Squigglefly set Up Close and Personal by Lynne Stansbery.  This is a really great set you have your image and three different says, to go with it.
I have been expirementing with trying to get a window look to the card.
so I cut out the center of the designer paper with a spellbinders die.. IF you are going to try this pick your die first and size your image to the die, not the other way around like I did .. makes things so much   more complicated.
I colored the image with copic markers.. and used  a die to cut out the saying again pick your die first.. so you can size your saying to fit the card..  When will I ever learn..
Make sure you  enter the Squigglefly challenge.. for your chance to win a free digi..

Treat Box

today I made a Valentine's treat box.. this was made using a small box about 5 by 5 Square that they sale at Michael's.

The Stamps I used are from Fun N Flair Stamps.  And I while I was on the web site I noticed they have added digital image.. how cool is that.. now you can still get this Shayla goes Cupid for Valentine's Day. Now the digital image does not have all the cool sayings that the stamp set does ... But it still has the wonderful Shyla image.

The Box when I bought itr was white.  I Did the polished stone technique on it. using alcohol inks.  Shayla was stamped and colored with copic markers.  The Background stamp is from the new Background set called Hugs and Kisses,  The love and hearts are the fun tape that everyone is using..

Cupid Dust

I made this card for the sketch challenge on the Fun n Flair web site.
all my stamps for this one came from set Shayla Goes Cupid.  I colored Cupids bag and Shayla with copic markers.  Ther designer paper was some scraps and  then I pretty mush followed the sketch.
For the heart I cut out the heart with the Spellbinder's heart die.. and while leaving it in the die I stamped the open heart border from the set Shayla goes Cupid.  with clear embossing ink and then put clear embossing power on it.
I did the say with the saying that was layered on top of the heart.

Beary Much

This card was made for the Sunday Stamping at Outlawz challenges.. the challenge was to make a card 4.25 X 4.25 inches.. since Feb. is a short month.. we where to make a short card.  The other part of this challenge  is the card is supposed to be simple with not alot of embellishments.  I think I finely nailed one of these.  I find it very hard to make a card and not add a lot of Fru Fru.
The Bear is from Rubber Stampede.  and the saying is from Fun n Flair Its all about Love set.  The great thing about this set it is so easy to use the saying from this and just grab a stamp and make a great card..

The image was colored with copic markers.  Now you are asking where are my Circles.  I have circles on the embossing folder in the background.  The flowers are some old one from Michael's and I do not know where the heart shaped buttons came from.  The Heart border is from Cheery Lynn.
Take the time to enter in the Squigglefly challenge.  you could win one of the great images this month.  I know I want a few of them..

Copic verses Spectrum noir

Let me start by saying I was just a little upset when Copic decided to raise their prices again in Jan.  I think that was the third time in a year.  So I wanted to see if I would like Spectrum noir by Crafters companion,
The new list price for Copcic is $7.99 but if you shop around you can find them for $5.24
Spectrum noir comes in a set of 6 pens I bought mine at Joann's regular price was $14.99 I used my 50% off coupon so I paid $6.50.
So that is a very Big plus for Spectrum noir.

Copic you have 214 markers.
Spectrum  has  168 markers
Copic wins with the most colors

Both are refillable.  So this is a tie.
Now on my flowers.  The only part that was colored with the spectum noir was the purple petals.
Because I only bought the one set.
can you guess which one is which.
What I tried to do in my test was to match the copic colors with the Spectum

I did not due to bad. I could not find a match for the Spectum LV3.  Which does not mean that copic does not have that color it just means I do not own it.
I used a digital image from Scrapbook Stamp Society called Flower 2 by Karen Sheltrown
Neither pen made my printer ink smear.  so both work well with the Epson ink.
But to me the big difference was the shape of the pens, the Spectrum are a square based pen verses the oval.
And I found with my little kids size hands that this made my hands hurt after a very short time.  My hands were tired by holding the pens.
The other big difference is in the nibs instead of a brush nib the spectrum has a smaller hard nib, that was on fine enough really to get into the small places but it took more work to blend with that style of nib

In conclusion.  The reason I went to the copic pens was to be able to blend the inks the way the professionals were doing. The difference is  like the difference between a BMW and an Kia.  If you have never driven the BMW then you might just be happy with the Kia.  but the move from the BMW to a Kia .. it is just not the same.
So even with the greater price.  in my book Copic wins.  I like the quality of the ink, the color choices and the shape of the barrel.
Thanks

Valentines Goodie Bag

todays post is something I have never made before.. this is a Vallentines goodie bag made with Stamps from Fun n Flair.
The stamps I used on this came from the three different Valentines Stamps set. Shayla Goes Cupid, Hugs ANd Kisses Background and It's All About Love.  I started by Stamping the heart background stamp on a piece of white paper.  I stamped it in Blak memento Ink.. Then I used some Distress inks to change the color of the paper.. Blending with different shades.. Then I scored it down the middle.
Then I stamped Shayla on a sheet of paper and colored her in with Copic markers.  The Sweets for my Sweets came from All about love set and the Be Mine came from The Shayla set.
The white hearts are a Cheery Lynn Die.. the candy was put inside the bag and I just stampled it closed.. putting my images over the top of the staples.
thanks for stopping by ...
And go check out these great stamps from Fun n Flair stamps..
